awyers and non-lawyers alike can now keep up with statutes, regula- tions, and other legal proclamations issued by the Quebec government more easily and at less cost. Since July 6, the Gazette officielle du Québec,
ments are available at no charge on the Internet. Previously, users could search indexes, but had to pay to access texts of new government laws and regulations. Published continuously since 1869, Quebec's official gazette is divided into two
parts. Part 1, published on Saturday and available only in French, contains legal notices whose publication is dictated by law, regulation, or by government dictate. Part 2, available in both French and English, becomes available each Wednesday and contains government acts assented to, draft regula- tions, regulations, and other documents. The move is designed to increase access to justice by lessening the cost of information.
