If you can get their business now, you could have a customer for life," she says. — GEOFF KIRBYSON gmkirbyson@shaw.ca BUSINESS TRANSACTIONS TEAM LAUNCHED O ne of Saskatchewan's big- gest law firms has launched a new practice group to ride the wave of the province's booming economy. Robertson Stromberg Ped- ersen LLP decided to start a business transactions team after it completed its work on the Assiniboia Farmland Limited Partnership, an entity estab- lished to provide investors with ex- posure to farmland in Saskatchewan. AFLP has issued nearly 440,000 units and has total gross proceeds of nearly $11 million. "Our firm has the ability to do quite sophisticated business transac- tions," says Chris Donald, a partner in Robertson Stromberg Pedersen's Sas- katoon office. "We've been involved in quite a few. We'd like to let people doing business in Saskatchewan, and their lawyers, know that there is a lo- cal law firm that can do this kind of work." The business transactions unit cur- rently has nine lawyers, but Patricia Warsaba, a partner in the firm's Re- gina office, says it will grow in lockstep with its corporate business. Robertson Stromberg Pedersen is also looking to grow its stable of law- yers in other practices areas as well. The firm has about 40 lawyers, split about evenly between Saskatoon and Regina.
