regulator, our principal role is to ensure the competence of every lawyer in the province, " he says. Jerke says the LSA also enacted a
new regulation in February that now prohibits a lawyer in Alberta from taking money from a trust account unless there is a service provided. "A new trust safety
program is also being implemented by the law society," says Jerke, adding the work is still evolving on the program that will further prevent frauds from occur- ring. "These are some of the measures to protect the public."
