Ottawa also offers a civil law degree taught in French, admit- ting about 150 students each year. Those who have completed their common law degree can take one additional year in the civil law section, giving them a dual common and civil law de- gree and tremendous access to legal systems around the world. While the results of our survey came primarily from com- mon law students, those indicating they had completed the civ- il law degree had similar views on the strengths of the school. New this year is the accelerated program, which will see 20 students admitted annually. The "programme de droit cana- dien" allows students to obtain their LLB and an LLL in three years. Nathalie Des Rosieres, dean of the civil law section, has been quoted as saying, "The programme de droit canadien is the result of reflecting upon the needs of future lawyers in Canada. It is about an innovative training which will permit students to benefit from the richness of diverse Canadian legal traditions in order to better respond to changes in society."
