REGIONAL WRAP-UP GANGE GOODMAN TWADDLE JOINS ange Goodman & French has grown by one-third in the past year but its most important addition may not even be a practising lawyer. Bill Gange, a partner at the Winnipeg- based firm, which specializes in civil litigation, says the recruitment of Kerr Twaddle, a judge recently retired after 22 years in the Manitoba Court of Ap- peal, as an adviser to its legal team is a "coup." "For us to be able to say to clients that their legal issues have been reviewed by Mr. Twaddle, a former judge in the Court of Appeal, can bring great comfort to them. They'll think, 'This guy knows what he's talking about,'" he says. Twaddle comes in to the downtown office twice a week and provides advice and guid- Bill Gange ance to junior lawyers on civil litigation issues as well as criminal and family law matters. "He has dealt with every kind of legal issue. It's a fantastic situation for us," says Gange. Gange says when he heard Twaddle was stepping down, he jumped at the chance to bring him on board. He didn't need to see any references or go through a lengthy interview process, either. "When he was still working in private practice, I was one of his lawyers at Twaddle & Co. He and I always stayed friends. When it was time for him to retire, I thought perhaps he'd be willing to join as counsel to the firm," he says.
