Hughes Amys LLP was originally established in 1918
by Frank Hughes and Thomas Agar. They were later
joined by Jack Amys. In 1930, Hughes became the
first lawyer in Canada to be appointed directly to the
Supreme Court of Canada. This 54-lawyer firm focuses
wholly on insurance defence providing legal services
to many of the most respected insurance companies
in the country. It offers services in a variety of areas
