METRAC works with individuals, communities and institutions to change ideas, actions and policies toward the goal of ending violence against women and youth. Our Community Justice Program helps women and youth access their legal rights in situations of violence such as sexual assault, stalking and domestic violence. We provide them and their service providers critical legal education and information and use research, partnership and policy approaches to improve how the system works for those most vulnerable to gender-based violence. Over the years, we've helped change laws to better support women experiencing abuse and intervened in cases where abused individuals were affected. METRAC is founder of the Ontario Women's Justice Network website and a founding member of Family Law Education for Women (FLEW), a successful campaign considered a promising practice by the Law Commission of Ontario for innovation in online legal information. METRAC is thrilled about the legal sector's enthusiasm for Flip Your Wig for Justice. Funds raised will allow us to use innovative technology approaches to grow our reach across Ontario, providing critical, multi-format legal information for diverse women, youth and service providers dealing with violence. For more information about METRAC, visit www.metrac.org, join our eNewsletter list and follow us on Facebook and Twitter. METRAC: Helping Women and Youth Access Justice in Situations of Abuse Pro Bono Students Canada is a national, award-winning program that operates in 21 law schools in eight provinces across Canada. Each year, 1,600 PBSC law students provide over 130,000 hours of free legal services to low-income Canadians and non-profit organizations. Justice Rosalie Abella of the Supreme Court of Canada has referred to PBSC as "one of the most visionary undertakings I have seen in my 40 years at the bar." Law student pro bono helps ordinary Canadians access the legal system, while creating a generation of lawyers dedicated to public service. More than 80 per cent of PBSC volunteers report they plan to continue to do pro bono upon graduation. As the access to justice crisis worsens, PBSC helps the justice sector stretch existing resources and assist greater numbers of people. Yet a lack of resources means PBSC turns away over 700 law students each year. PBSC is proud to be part of the Flip Your Wig for Justice Collective, and is grateful for the profession's support of this campaign. Funds raised will allow PBSC to mobilize more law students, helping thousands of additional Canadians every year. For more information about PBSC, visit www.probonostudents.ca, and follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
