Historically, the barrister's wig symbolised the privilege associated with practising law. Being a lawyer continues to be a great privilege, one that we believe comes with obligations. Throughout the pages of this magazine, you will read about some of the extraordinary work lawyers and law firms are doing to exercise this obligation, giving back to their communities by responding in meaningful ways to the accessible justice deficit. Wearing a wig will not solve what are extremely complex and challenging issues. Flipping our wigs is a small act meant to encourage dialogue, unite our profession, and celebrate our achievements. With a year of success to work from, Flip Your Wig 2015 is currently an Ontario-based campaign. Our goal is to make it bigger and better and grow this innovative campaign across Canada in 2016. The response to Flip Your Wig has been over- whelming. As you can see in the pages of this magazine, all corners of the profession have come together to support this creative initiative. Flip Your Wig campaign Ambassadors include two former Prime Ministers, sitting and retired judges, Law Deans and academics, and leading figures in the profession and beyond. Endorsements continue to pour in. The access to justice crisis is a difficult, complex story, one with no easy solutions. But it's also a story about the ways in which each of us can make a tangible contribution to positive change, which is the spirit of Flip Your Wig for Justice. We hope you enjoy the stories we have gathered for this magazine, and that you will join us in celebrating the incredible contributions of lawyers, law firms and legal institutions, even as we continue to draw attention to the work that still needs to be done. The Flip Your Wig for Justice Organizations are: OJEN, the Ontario Justice Education Network AIDWYC, the Association in Defence of the Wrongly Convicted CLEO, Community Legal Education Ontario CCLA, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association METRAC: Action on Violence PBSC, Pro Bono Students Canada It's not too late to give to Flip Your Wig!
