New app tracks COVID-19 infections As some governments mull plans to scale back business closure orders and restart their economies, a new app is in the works that tracks COVID-19 infections using Bluetooth technology to allow doctors to notify people who have come within proximity of an infected person. TraceScan is a new digital contact-tracing app being developed by a team of researchers from the University of Waterloo and ride-sharing platform Facedrive. The team has partnered with McCarthy Tétrault LLP for help connecting with governments and corporations to help put it in use quickly. Exigent launches AI-powered contract management system Legal technology provider Exigent has released the latest update to its contract management solution to include AI-based auto-extraction and contextual search for increased speed to data, accuracy and business impact. Exigent's AI auto-extraction tool, Scarlett, is powered by a machine- learning engine set up and trained by legal professionals, financial experts and data scientists, creating faster and more accurate outcomes. The system extracts smartly selected business and legal terms quickly, automatically placing them into a data lake and making key data accessible always in a universal format. Canadian Pacific Railway completes public debt offering Canadian Pacific Railway Company completed an offering of US$500 million aggregate principal amount of 2.050 per cent notes due 2030. The notes are fully and unconditionally guaranteed by CPRL. The offering was made in the U.S. pursuant to an effective shelf registration statement previously filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission. Barclays Capital Inc., Citigroup Global Markets Inc., HSBC Securities (USA) Inc., Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC, BofA Securities, Inc. and Wells Fargo Securities, LLC were joint book-running managers for the offering. MEG Energy Corp. completes private placement MEG Energy Corp. completed an offering of US$1.2 billion aggregate principal amount of 7.125 per cent notes due 2027. The offering was made in the U.S. under Rule 144A and in certain provinces of Canada pursuant to a private placement. Barclays Capital Inc., BMO Capital Markets Corp. and RBC Capital Markets, LLC were joint book-running managers for the offering, and CIBC World Markets Corp. and AltaCorp Capital Inc. acted as co-managers.
